A new association has formed to promote blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies.
The American Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Association is a 501(c)(6) trade association "whose mission is to advance a vision for how distributed ledger technologies and cross-border innovations, including cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, can lead to sounder markets," according a statement from the new group.
Membership is open to a broad range of stakeholders, including individuals, organizations and companies. Individual memberships are $19.99 per month or $199 a year. A tiered membership dues structure is available for companies and strategic partners.
"ABCA provides direct access into the Washington, D.C., marketplace for individuals and organizations who are investing in, and betting on the growth of these innovative technologies," ABCA President Howard Greenberg said. "Through our expanding network of experts and our proprietary analysis of the technology and the evolving regulatory environment, we educate and empower our members, providing a voice to shape the policy discussions underway."
ABCA's website lists no staff but includes a five-member board of directors headed by Greenberg, whose most recent job was executive chef and partner of Fat Pete's BBQ in Washington, D.C., according to his LinkedIn profile. Other board members include Deborah Leitner, a marketing communications professional, and Steven Orr, senior vice president of the online financial platform Money.net.
The association's website is www.abcaonline.org.
